Fire at Moonee Ponds Courthouse

Unfortunately this morning (Monday 27/06/16) there was a fire at the Moonee Ponds Courthouse. The Courthouse operates as the headquarters for the Essendon Historical Society museum and holds a collection of historical materials related to the local area of Moonee Valley.

Details are still emerging, however, damage is significant with the collapse of the roof in the courtroom. However, we believe that some of the collection in other rooms may be intact and until further notice, the Museum will be closed.

Here at MV Fit we would like to send our support and condolence to the the Essendon Historical Society and hope that there isn’t too much damage from the blaze.

More details can be read about the blaze on the abc news website – http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-06-27/fire-blazes-at-historical-museum-in-moonee-ponds/7545782
