Free Telehealth Consults with Exercise Physiologist Lauren BURNHAM
A great offer and message from Exercise Physiologist, Lauren Burnham during the current COVID lockdown.
When Stage 4 lockdown came into effect for Melbournians it dawned on me the effect that will be had on each and every one of us in more ways than one, and in particular many of our most vulnerable people within the community. In thinking of ways in which I might be able to help I’ve decided to offer FREE Telehealth Exercise Physiology consults for:
All High School Students
It is expected that the transition to remote learning indefinitely for high school students will present many challenges. The pressures of performing academically, particularly for those in VCE, can often come with feelings of stress and anxiety and may be exacerbated more so during this time. Feelings of isolation and lack of motivation may also creep up for students as the social support that is usually achieved through face-to-face schooling, and activities such as community sport no longer exist. Physical activity levels may also fall by the wayside, posing further implications for physical and mental health.
Any person of colour
Recent events across the world have again highlighted the ongoing inequalities that exist for persons of colour, and in particular people of indigenous descent within Australia. There is clearly a lot of work we need to do to work towards achieving the ‘Closing the Gap’ targets. It’s devastating to know that there are countless people within Australia who still live in fear of discrimination and experience many forms of disadvantage, simply because of their race, religion, nationality or colour of their skin.
Given the proven benefits that Exercise has not only on our physical health but also mental wellbeing, offering free Exercise Physiology to anyone who may fit into one of these demographics is one way in which I can offer help. I hope to be able to reach out to those who may be feeling a bit flat, lacking motivation, feeling socially isolated, or worried for their physical or mental health during this time.
I’ll be offering:
- 15 min intro consultations (a session to get to know me and ask any questions you may have about how Exercise Physiology may be able to help you)
- 45 min initial consultations
- 30 min follow up consultations
*subject to availability, up to a maximum of 1 x 45min session per week or equivalent
