Building Confidence and Connection: Our EPs at the Össur Mobility Clinic Melbourne

At Moonee Valley Health and Fitness, our Exercise Physiologists are always looking for opportunities to continue learning and improving the care we offer our clients. Recently, members of our team attended one of the Össur Mobility Clinics that was hosted in Melbourne.

It was a two-day event dedicated to supporting amputees and individuals with limb differences through movement, education, and community and was a great event for our team to learn more skills for our Prosthetic and Amputee Clients in the gym

About the Össur Mobility Clinic

The Össur Mobility Clinics are designed to bring together amputees and healthcare professionals across Australia and New Zealand. These clinics are for people with limb differences, prosthetic users, and allied health professionals to share experiences, learn practical strategies, and explore new ways to enhance mobility and confidence.

Each event is more than just a 1 or 2 day workshop. It’s a community celebration of movement where participants of all ages come together to challenge themselves, connect with others, and celebrate what’s possible through exercise and support.

The Melbourne Mobility Clinic

The Melbourne Mobility Clinic was a great weekend with kids as young as toddlers joined in the fun, chasing basketballs with boundless energy.

The atmosphere across the weekend was amazing. From the warm-up activities to the advanced prosthetic training sessions, every participant (whether an amputee, healthcare professional, or family member) brought enthusiasm and positivity.

A Weekend of Prosthetic and Amputee Learning

Throughout the two days our EP team took part in hands-on training workshops focused on improving gait, balance, and functional strength for people using prosthetics. The sessions combined clinical knowledge with lived experience, showing how structured exercise and adaptive programming can make a real difference in everyday mobility.

Hearing stories of resilience and achievement reminded us why we do what we do here at MV Fit. One of our main goals is always about helping people move with confidence, independence, and purpose.

Why Our Team Attended and Photos from the Workshop

As Exercise Physiologists, we work with clients who live with a wide range of health conditions and physical differences.

Attending events like the Össur Mobility Clinic allows our team to stay at the forefront of adaptive exercise, rehabilitation, and inclusion.

Understanding the challenges faced by amputees helps us design more effective, evidence-based programs for our NDIS Exercise Physiology sessions, Clinical Pilates, or strength and conditioning programs here at MV Fit.

Upcoming Mobility Clinic on the Green Melbourne 2025

There is a Össur Mobility Clinic on the Green that will take place at The Metropolitan Golf Club Melbourne, on Monday 15th December, 2025.

The event will give amputees a chance to explore the game of golf, enhance their mobility, and engage with the community. This event brings together individuals of all ages and abilities who have limb differences and amputations.

At the clinic, you'll have the chance to learn from Össur Champions Mike Rolls and Shaun Bakker. They will provide valuable insights into the fundamentals of swing dynamics, golf-specific warm-up techniques, and the wide-ranging physical and mental health benefits that golf can offer to amputees.
