Exercise with Patients and running a successful EP Clinic

Exercise with Patients and running a successful EP Clinic. The key to a successful exercise physiology program and getting results with our patients is getting them to buy-in on our process. When promoting the exercise interventions to patients at our Melbourne Clinic our trainers focus on patient motivators, behaviours and goals as opposed to the medical or health benefits of exercise. We show the benefits of physical activity to our patients with the specific ways in which it can help them achieve their core daily needs and goals, rather than emphasizing on the medically focused goals of weight control, better health outcomes, and disease management. Whilst the medically focused goals are important to our trainers and doctors, the patients are more likely to continue their health and fitness journey when feeling the immediate benefits they receive and how it effects their daily quality of life. Our Melbourne Exercise Physiology Clinic Our message is simple. Exercise is the best, cheapest, most accessible medicine available and in order to improve chronic disease mortality rates, people need to move more. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) message All our Accredited Exercise Physiologists at our clinic are part of the EIM Australia Network. The Exercise is Medicine message is passed on to all our patients that we work with as we focus on the immediate benefits of exercise such as the experience of feelings including relaxation, happiness and vitality. We have a great success rate with our patients when focusing on these aspects rather than selling the medical and health benefits that they will also receive such as lower blood pressure or chronic condition improvements which may not occur until weeks or months down the [...]
