Christmas Carols in Queens Park Come on down to the 2018 Carol's in Queen Park in December and enjoy the free entertainment that the Moonee Valley City Council has organised. Pack a picnic, gather your family and friends and enjoy an outstanding line-up of local performers, schools and community groups including Moonee Valley Brass Inc and Moonee Valley Community Choir. Candles, food and refreshments will also be onsite for purchase. Push Up to Plank - Exercise Library Sets: 1-3 Reps: 8-12 ea side Rest: 1-2mins Exercise Description: - Keep your abs braced and body in a straight line from your toes to shoulders. - Get into a standard push up position. - Keeping your body straight and drop your right forearm on the ground (like you are going into a plank / prone hold position) - Then lower your left forearm on the ground until you are in a plank / prone hold position. - Extend your elbows one at a time to return to the starting position. - Alternate which arm you are first using to go up and down so both arms get equal work. - Repeat until you’ve completed all reps. Inverted Wrist Push Up - Exercise Library Sets: 1-3 Reps: 8-12 Rest: 1-2mins Exercise Description: - Please note that the risk for injury is higher with wrist push-ups than most other push-up variations. The average person will be fine sticking with standard push-ups and close grip (diamond) push-ups. - Inverted Wrist Push Ups are performed by inverting your wrists so the backs of your hands are on the floor. - Before going for a full wrist push-up, try a push-up with one hand on the palm and the other backwards. - Start in a standard push up position, with your hands shoulder width apart but your palms facing upward - Lower yourself to the ground, then as you push yourself up returning to the start position - Repeat for as many repetitions as prescribed. Plate Shoulder Halos - Exercise Library Sets: 1-3 Reps: 10-20 Rest: 1-2mins Description: - Plate Halos gets its name based on the path it takes around your head, like it is following the path of a Halo that is hovering above your head. - This is a great exercise for thoracic mobility and shoulder and upper back health. - Hold a weight plate and stabilize the rest of the body while only the shoulders move to draw a Halo around your head. - The plate should remain as close to your head as possible, with your arms moving around your head and not the head moving around the arms - Your neck and head should stay in a neutral position and not move. - You should not be in any pain when doing this movement so if you lack the required mobility to perform this exercise with a plate it may need to be modified. Explosive Push Up - Exercise Library Sets: 1-3 Reps: 8-12 Rest: 1-2mins Exercise Description: - The explosive push up is a variation of the standard push up and is also known as a clapping push up if you add a clap in at the top of the plyometric movement. - Explosive push ups are not much more difficult to perform than standard push ups, and require only that you know the right technique when performing - Start in a standard push up position, with your hands shoulder width apart - Lower yourself to the ground, then as you push up as hard as you can - Imagine that you’re attempting to push yourself all the way up to a standing position. Pistol Squat - Exercise Library Sets: 1-3 Reps: 8-12 Rest: 1-2mins Description: - Balancing on one leg. - Have your arms straight in front of you. - Keeping your chest tall and have your eyes forward. - Bend your knee that you are balancing on and lower your bum right down to your foot. - Push yourself back up to starting position.
