NDIS Quarterly Report Released June 2019 The NDIS Quarterly Report from April 1 2019 - June 30 2019 has been released showing data that close to 100,000 participants are receiving supports for the first time.Acting NDIA CEO (Vicki Rundle) has said "The positive impact that the NDIS continues to have on the lives of Australians with disability and their families and carers is demonstrated by improved participant satisfaction results"Highlights of the Quarterly Report included:90% of participants were satisfied with their planning experience;6% growth of the NDIS provider market with 21,510 registered providers;The rate of unscheduled plan reviews has fallen, indicating some improvement with participant plan satisfaction;Of the total number of registered providers, 46% are individuals/sole traders and 54% are organisations/companies;7.3% of participants identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander entering in this quarter; and10.3% of participants who received an NDIS plan were of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse heritage.Vicki Rundle commented that "while the latest Quarterly Report results are promising – there is still room for improvement and we continue to work on a number of initiatives to further enhance the experience participants have with the Scheme".The NDIS Quarterly Report for June 2019 as well as all the previous reports can be found at https://www.ndis.gov.au/about-us/publications/quarterly-reports Victorian Performance Report as of 30 June 2019 Participants and Planning An additional 11,293 participants with plans this quarter (excluding ECEI). Initial assessments for NDIS participants

Getting started with an assessment for NDIS participants: NDIS participants can expect the following during your first meeting at Moonee Valley Health and Fitness. Our allied health team establish a strong understanding your desires and goals, and then develop a treatment plan for your NDIS plan goals. We develop the most effective action plan of individual or combined services to improve health, wellbeing, functional capacity, and daily living skills. To ensure that our methods are targeted to individual needs, we provide an individualised assessments with the capacity to help create the best plan based on your budget and goals: Initial Assessments can involve looking at: Movement and mobility Pain and discomfort Muscle and joint dysfunction Symmetry between left and right limbs Anatomical & physiological limitations & capacity Risk of trips/falls/injuries Risk of developing chronic diseases or other co-existing complex conditions Once we complete your initial assessment, the findings are put into practice with the most appropriate level and frequency of service/s. We have a great team of Exercise Physiologists, Personal Trainers, Physiotherapists and Dietitians to provide services funded under the NDIS. The following services are funded under the NDIS: Exercise Physiology – NDIS participants can work with our EP's to: increase functional capacity & resilience reduce injury and chronic disease risk with targeted risk assessments & exercise programs provide exercise therapy & exercise rehabilitation to reduce the impact of disability increase feelings of wellness and confidence with development of fitness & strength // You can view more details of the Exercise Physiology support budget types here Therapeutic supports - provide individualised assessments, therapy & training services to identify & quantify effective and sustainable outcomes, including type and frequency of therapies. Personal training - assist participants improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, & muscle tone/control Physiotherapy – facilitate therapies to restore mobility, and assess specific functional needs Dietetics - provide participants with nutritional advice and meal plans Information for NDIS participants on developing your first plan You may have a few questions about developing your first plan. We understand that every person living with a disability has different needs, and we’re here to help you develop a plan that you have choice and control over. Exercise Physiology – Support Budget Types

Once your NDIS plan is approved, you need to understand different budgets, who can help you start using your plan, and how your plan is managed. This is a brief explanation of how our exercise physiology approved NDIS services can be used in relation to your budget. The NDIA commission are constantly making changes to how the NDIS works, and the below information is based on the current information as of July 2019. There are three types of support budgets that may be funded in NDIS plans: Core Supports Capacity Building Supports Capital Supports Your funding is based on what is ‘reasonable and necessary’ to achieve your goals in addition to the support provided by family friends and other community and government services. Exercise Physiology services currently can be funded with Capacity Building Supports. NDIS Funds for Exercise Physiology Moonee Valley Health and Fitness’s Accredited Exercise Physiologists are trained to prescribe exercise programs to people who will benefit from greater mobility, balance and overall health. These are usually gym based programs delivered in our onsite gym in Travancore, VIC 3032. Using your Capacity Support Budget. Capacity Building Supports help build your independence and skills to help you reach your long-term goals. Unlike your Core Supports budget, your Capacity Building Supports budget cannot be moved from one support category to another. Funding can only be used to purchase approved individual supports that fall within that Capacity Building category. Physical Activity and Psychological Well-Being in Cancer Survivors Research Thesis by L’shae Dib looking at ‘Physical Activity and Psychological Well-Being in Cancer Survivors’. The research is being carried out in partial fulfillment of the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours). This research is supported in kind by La Trobe University. They aim to look at factors that influence physical activity, such a pet ownership or age. Survivorship care aims to enhance quality of life and emphasises “living well” after a cancer diagnosis. Physical activity is an important part of survivorship care, but we don’t know enough about how much cancer survivors are exercising or the impact this activity has on their well-being. TAC Approved Exercise Physiologist

Exercise Physiology and TAC Patients To help you recover from your transport accident injuries the TAC will cover the cost of our allied health physical therapies that we have here at Moonee Valley Health and Fitness. The allied health and physical therapies we currently have at our clinic is Physiotherapy & Exercise Physiology. Moonee Valley Health and Fitness is registered and approved by TAC to provide exercise physiology services. We charge no gap fees for our Exercise Physiology appointments for TAC approved patients. TAC pay the cost of your exercise physiology appointments when it is required as a result of a transport accident injury. The NDIS rollout for Victoria

As of July 2019, All eligible Victorians now have access to the NDIS. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) was rolled out in Victoria first started in July 2016. Initially it was rolled out in stages so current and new disability service providers had time to prepare. Victoria statistics as of 31 March 2019 - 71,770 people in Victoria are benefiting from the NDIS - 14,698 people are now receiving support for the first time - 5,895 children are being supported by the ECEI program All eligible Victorians now have access to the NDIS. To become an NDIS participant a person must: Have a permanent impairment Be aged less than 65 Live in Australia in an NDIS area Be an Australian citizen We are a recognised NDIS service provider based in Melbourne for Exercise Physiology, Personal Training, Physiotherapy and Dietetics.
